Many of us have been fearful of receiving a chemical peel. The word CHEMICAL can be a bit worrisome. Many advances have been made in the past 20 years. They have come a long way in the scientific way they are created for all kinds of skin types and skin concerns, I have chosen to enlighten you in what a PEEL actually does.
PEELING IS EXFOLIATION:
When your skin peels or flakes after a treatment, this is indicative of dead and damaged surface cells shedding. This is what it known as cell turnover, The result following the shredding process is new healthy skin cells along with glowing skin. This process helps with decreasing signs of aging, sun damage and eliminates dirt and debris.
YOU MAY NOT PEEL AT ALL!!
This surprises many of my clients. If you don't peel following a treatment, it does not mean it was not effective. The peeling depends on your skin type, how resilienent your skin is, the type of peel you received and how many layers were applied. I have had reports from clients known as "sheeting" which refers to a large portion coming off at once. We all have different reactions and its all considered to be within normal limits.
It is possible that the exfoliation is happening at the cellular level & can't be seen with the naked eye. If your peel was deeper in penetration, you will certainly see more peeling as the peel goes deeper into the 2nd layer of SKIN,which is the DERMIS. I will determine after examining your skin under a microscope, what peel is best suited for your skin type and address your concerns.
PEELS ARE EASY TO WORK INTO A BUSY LIFESTYLE:
There is no downtime with PCA SKIN Chemical Peels. However, there are steps to ensure optimal results. You should avoid sweating for 48 hrs after treatment along with anything else that exposes you to heat, for example, the sun is a big NO-NO for a specific period of time.
I will provide a full, detailed follow up procedure. Feel how the PCA products speak for themselves!
